After 40 years at sea, vessel will be docked and turned into a hotel
The liner Queen Elizabeth 2 arrives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, to begin a new life as a floating hotel moored off an artificial island.

More than 60 naval vessels and private boats, led by a mega-yacht owned by Dubai's ruler, have met the 70,000 ton ship in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday.

Cunard, the cruise ship's owner sold it last year to a state-run conglomerate Dubai World for about $100 million. It will be turned into a hotel and docked along Dubai's palm-shaped island. Marriott Hotel Islamabad - before and after bombing

Serangan bom di Hotel Marriot, 60 terbunuh

ISLAMABAD 20 Sept. – Sekurang-kurangnya 60 orang terbunuh dan lebih 200 cedera setelah sebuah trak yang sarat dengan bahan letupan meletup di Hotel Marriot, di sini hari ini.

Kejadian dilaporkan berlaku pada pukul 9 malam ini waktu Malaysia.

“Sebuah kereta yang mengandungi bahan letupan merempuh pintu pagar Hotel Marriot malam ini dan setakat ini jumlah kematian mencecah 40 orang.

“Bagaimanapun jumlah kematian dijangka terus meningkat dan serangan ini dipercayai satu serangan berani mati,” kata Ketua Polis Islamabad, Asghar Raza Gardazi. Ujar beliau, kebanyakan mangsa mati akibat terjun dari bangunan setinggi enam tingkat itu.

Hotel tersebut yang terkenal sebagai penginapan pilihan di kalangan pelancong asing dilaporkan rosak teruk dan berpuluh-puluh kenderaan dilaporkan turut musnah. Api yang marak turut memusnahkan beberapa tingkat bangunan hotel berkenaan.

Sejam sebelum kejadian, Presiden yang baru dilantik Asif Ali Zardari melakukan ucapan pertama di Parlimen yang terletak beberapa ratus meter dari hotel berkenaan.

Ini merupakan kejadian serangan bom kali kedua di hotel 290 bilik itu, namun letupan hari ini merupakan yang paling teruk dilaporkan pernah berlaku di ibu negara Pakistan.
